Quest for Yap: Melee: Quick Tips Melee is a variant on Quest for Yap that focuses on Combat and eliminates the trade aspect of the game. You make money by killing other ships. 10 Must-Read Tips for Melee Success: #1: Equip your starting ship by visiting the Equipment Shop and Weapons Shop. You need drones or weapons to do damage. For weapons, start out with Small or Medium Lasers. #2: Find and kill Civilians. These are easier targets that will make you some early cash. #3: Return to Sector 1 when you need more shields or armor. #4: Try to kill a Scout - the weakest ones are Interceptors. Careful, and watch your defenses! You can always come back to finish the kill later. #5: Continue until you level up, then buy a new ship at the Ship Shop. #6: Every hour, your shields regenerate slightly. Take advantage of these free defenses! #7: Expect to die. Once your Newbie Protection expires, it is likely you will be killed by another player when you log off. Keep a bankroll so that when you die you can reequip without losing any time! #8: Turns limit how much you can do in one day. When you are running low on turns, hide your ship far from Sector 1 and come back to play the next day! #9: Use Upgrades to make your ship more powerful, and claim sectors to build Stations to defend yourself when you are offline. #10: Ask questions or look for answers on the Forums. Although Melee is generally simpler than Original, mastering it can be difficult. Melee needs it's own set of help files much like these, but for now you can use the Melee information from the old help files. The Old Help is located at http://www.yapquest.com/help.htm ...specifically, Melee information is located in sections 15 and 16. Included is information on the weapons and upgrades found in Melee, as well as an explanation of what makes Melee different. | |
