Section 14:
Rules Last Updated: 9/10/05
Players are expected to know and understand these rules:
· 1.0 - NO MULTI ACCOUNTS, including…
o 1.1: Joining a game twice
o 1.2: Creating a second account to scout, send cash, infiltrate another clan, or ANY OTHER PURPOSE without express consent of the Administration
o 1.3: Playing with 2 or more accounts
o 1.4: Using another person’s account AT ANY TIME including to transfer clan funds, or accessing your own account from somebody else’s computer. You may access the game at work or school, as long as another person does not use the same computer.
o 1.5: Creating an account for a friend, whether you ever play it or not. They can type in their own email and name. This includes joining the round for them at the beginning of the game!
o 1.6: Allowing a friend to use your email to sign up, sharing passwords, etc.
· 2.0 - ONLY ONE ACCOUNT PER HOUSEHOLD
o 2.1: Sorry I don’t like to have to have this rule, but I have to. I cannot verify that you do really have a younger brother who loves Yap so much he has to play and so do you. Because of this rule, however, it is okay for members of the same household to all use the same account in the game, but only ONE account. No matter how hard you insist that “It’s my mom’s account!” you will be deleted.
· 3.0 Gameplay Restrictions – These are lesser offences but will still be punished
o 3.1: Planet Milking: You may not send planets to people with the intention of claiming them again immediately for experience.
o 3.2: Killing clanmate’s ships: Leaving a clan and then killing that clan’s ships, especially by using the clan to gain access to their planets, is strictly prohibited. Also any arrangement within the clan to have a player leave to kill ships for exp is prohibited. Killing friendly ships with a Yap Bomb to prevent an enemy from getting points is allowed, but you must not leave your clan to drop the bomb! You will get no exp for the kills this way.
o 3.3: Bounty Milking: You may not place a bounty on a player you are about to kill, or in any other arrangement to make a profit off of bounty interest.
o 3.4: Breaking treaties: You may not leave your clan to attack ships or planets owned by a clan with whom you have a treaty. This will tend to rid yourself of most friends. You may also not leave your clan to attack planets owned by your own clan.
o 3.5: Inflating planet bounties: You may not inflate planet bounties by suiciding high-exp ships into them (such as colonist transports, minesweepers), or attack with unequipped ships of any type in an effort to inflate planet bounties. You MAY, however, use, for example, Bounty Hunters rather than Frigates to attack.
o 3.6: Sending your after-death cash to other people. When you die, you get some cash if your cash is below a certain value. If you send this cash to somebody else, that’s cheating. So don’t do it. This is especially enforced in Melee.
o 3.7: For the Melee game: Doing anything with the intent of leaving yourself with 0 ships so that you can’t be killed. This includes suiciding into an autoturret and then logging off before you get your pod.
o 3.8: Planet hogging will not be tolerated. Planet hogging involves going around and claiming planets in the early game with the intent of sending them to Administration or another player to make them unclaimable until after the 5th day.
o 3.9: Bounty Fraud and other types of “loopholish” deals: You may not make deals with other people like “Hey I’ll let you get my bounty if you give me half” or allowing somebody to claim your planet so that you can claim it back and get exp, whether you are allied with the person or not, this is illegal. This goes for any other deals made with unaffiliated players to provide an advantage to both. Included are deals where one player allows another to kill his or her ships. If you aren’t sure a deal is okay, it probably isn’t, but ask Administration if you wish.
o 3.10: Yap Bombing newbies (in Original) is not allowed. You are able to kill newbies with yap bombs because sometimes it must be done, for example, to clear a sector of a single ship. However, you may not use it to kill newbie fleets. Newb protection is there for a reason, folks.
o 3.11: Sending cash to people not in your clan by using planets, etc. To keep the game more competitive I want cash flow to stay within clans.
o 3.12: Anything else that seems wrong.. If you don’t think the game is meant to be played a certain way, don’t play that way. This doesn’t mean you can’t try new tactics, but if you think what you are doing is unfair or dishonest, either stay away from it or tell Administration.
· 4.0 Misc
o 4.1: Invalid Email. If you signup with an invalid or blank email, your account will be deleted. This is to help combat multi accounts.
Rule Violation
Penalties
Here are some of the things I might do to you if you decide to break the above rules:
· Permaban: Your IP will be banned as well as similar IPs. Other methods will also be used to also keep you from the game. Reserved for the worst of the worst.
· Banning from round: Likely for repeat violations and continuing mischief
· Deletion of account(s): Most multiple account violators will be deleted, no questions asked. May also be used to punish other severe cheating.
· Fines of Exp, Cash, or Turns: Depending on the type of violation, fines may be equivalent to gains made or may be steeply larger.
Rewards for
Reporting Cheating
I will give rewards if you report cheating that would otherwise be highly difficult for the administration to detect.
Note that my policy is generally that although cheating is punished, victims of cheating are not reimbursed.
